World cup trophy in Uganda


The world cup gong arrived in Uganda yesterday on the 5th march 2018 under the coordination of the global soda brand Coca Cola. It was first taken to the head of state His Excellence President Museveni at the state house in Entebbe who held for the second time.  It will be up for public viewing in Lugogo at Startimes Stadium the home ground of the Uganda local team KCCA FC near Lugogo game stores.

As Uganda grace the world cup trophy here are five facts you did not about the prestigious football gong

The FIFA World Cup Trophy is worth USD 10 millions.  This current trophy replaced the Jules Rimet in 1974 which was worth us dollars 500000 designed by Italian sculptor Silvio Gazzaniga.  It is made of 18 carat gold.

The world cup trophy can only be held by the former winner of the fifa world cup football tournament and the reigning heads of states. It is one of the most treasured inanimate objects in the world as it is every footballer’s highest dream to hold it. It has one been held by one person in Uganda president Museveni.

Out of the 195 countries in the world, there are only eight countries that have ever won the world cup trophy since its inception in 1930 and only 6 out of the 8 winner countries have one the current one  and with Franz Beckenbauer of West Germany in 1974 being the first captain to lift it.

The recent tour is the fourth global world cup trophy tour hosted by coca cola. The coca cola company has been associated with FIFA in sponsorship since 1978.

The name and year of the winner of the every world cup tournament is crafted under the trophy and Germany was the first country to be put on the current trophy in 1974.
