UGANDA TOURISM INCENTIVES 2020 TO 2021

Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) continues to run price discounts as a measure of managing the Covid19 impacts on tourism destinations. This is a way of encouraging visitors to Uganda’s protected areas and also boosting the conservation drive during these times.

It is no doubt Covid19 has affected a number of sectors however, UWA has pledged to reward the general public after continued support throughout the years with very favorable discounts.

The following discounts have been offered with effect from 1st December 2020 to 31st March 2021 hence the common phrase, “travel now better.”

Almost all activities are on a 50% discount as per below;

Reduction on Gorilla and chimpanzee tracking fees for all visitor categories as follows

Foreign Non Resident gorilla tracking permits reduced from USD 700 to USD 400

Foreign Resident gorilla tracking permits reduced from USD 600 to USD 300

East African Community citizen gorilla tracking permits reduced from UGX 250,000 to UGX. 150,000

Foreign Non-Resident chimpanzee tracking permits reduced from USD 200 to USD 150

Foreign Resident chimpanzee tracking permits reduced from USD 150 to USD 100

East African Community resident chimpanzee tracking permits reduced from UGX. 150,000 to UGX. 100,000

50% discount on the park entrance fee for Lake Mburo NP, Queen Elizabeth NP, Kidepo Valley NP, Murchison Falls NP, Semuliki NP, Toro Semuliki Wildlife Reserve, Katonga Wildlife Reserve, Kabwoya Wildlife Reserve and Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve.

50% discount on birding fees.

Note that all the above discounts are valid for ONLY new purchases between 1st December 2020 and 31st March 2021 and do not apply for any permits that are to be rescheduled or paid for prior on deposit.

These are promotional rates and in case of gorilla and chimpanzee permits purchased, there will be no reschedules permitted for these permits beyond the promotional period of 31st March 2021, meaning, these permits have to be used within the promotional period.

It is important to note that the standing operating procedures for Covid19 continue to be followed while visited all the protected areas in Uganda.
